He has cast doubt on the cause of George Michael's death after saying hard drugs were back in his life before he died
GEORGE Michael's childhood friend linked his death to "hard drugs".
Andros Georgiou grew up with the Wham! singer and the pair were so close they referred to each other as "cousins".
George's death was confirmed as a result of natural causes - here's what we know about the former music producer.
Andros Georgiou, an ex-music producer, toured with George until they fell out in 1998
Who is Andros Georgiou?
He is a childhood friend of George, and it has been reported they grew up together.
They both followed the same musical path and made a career through music.
The ex-music producer toured with George until they fell out in 1998.
He says he has a collection of unpublished songs written and sung by George.
Appearing on the Victoria Derbyshire Show he described him as a "private person, an incredibly generous person, one of the nicest people you could ever meet".
He also told of how he and George would drive around the West End at Christmas with two Range Rovers full of food for homeless people.
Andros also said on one occasion, when George was unable to go to a charity auction run by the Elton John Aids Foundation he told him to "just buy everything" when people were not bidding.
How did he claim George died?
Andros claimed the reason the singer was found dead at home on Christmas Day was due to drug use.
He told the BBC "hard drugs had been back in his life", adding crack cocaine was one of his favourites.
He believes George's death was an accident and not a suicide.
The suggestion George, 53, deliberately took his own life came from posts on his on-off lover’s Twitter account.
But Andros dismissed this and added he wanted to get to the truth of what had happened and what was in George's blood at the time of his death.
The music legend was found dead at his home in Goring, Oxfordshire, by his partner Fadi Fawaz
How did George Michael die?
Thames Valley Police said an ambulance attended the singer's home property in Goring, Oxfordshire, at 1.42pm on Christmas Day, adding that his death was being treated as "unexplained but not suspicious".
He was was found dead in bed by his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz.
Senior coroner Darren Salter said the pop legend suffered from dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver and died of natural causes.
The verdict was delayed until March 7 as the coroner awaited the results of toxicology tests – a wait which left funeral plans on hold.
An initial post-mortem, held in late December, had proved inconclusive.
What has Andros said about Fadi?
There is no love lost between the Careless Whisper singer's boyfriend and his close friend Andros.
On February 11 The Sun exclusively revealed that Fadi has been banned from attending George's funeral.
Andros said: “Fadi has not been invited to the funeral. He is not welcome, the family hate him. Heaven help him if he turned up.
“Fadi was not really his boyfriend. No one has spoken to him and he just seems to be getting on with his life. It makes my stomach turn.”
What is Freedom about?
Freedom: The George Michael Story will follow the life of the Careless Whisper icon.
It will delve in to the story behind Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1, and will feature perhaps the most A-list line-up of ‘talking heads’ ever.
The film, which has been backed by Sony Music, has been created by filmmaker and George's close friend, David Austin, and is meant to give a unique insight into the singer's life.
In the years before George died, he had removed himself from the spotlight, and had lived a more reclusive lifestyle.
As a result, the star opening his doors to the cameras was a huge deal for fans, who are eagerly awaiting the film's release.
When is Freedom on TV and how can I watch it?
Freedom will air on Channel 4 at 9pm TONIGHT, Monday 16 October.
It will then make its way to the channel's online streaming service and will remain there for at least thirty days.
It's not yet been confirmed if there will be a DVD release of the documentary.
